enjoying a peroni by the lake

How is this real life?” seems to be the recurring sentiment repeating in my head the past few weeks as I travel through Europe with 4 people I’ve only known on the internet throughout the past few years. The scenery, the food, the plants, the people. Everything solidifying before my eyes feels like something from a rich past-life I’ve only seen in my dreams. As I tour through these impossible images, I reflect on how these people kept me company during the pandemic having just moved to a foreign country. When the pandemic started to become serious in my life, I was fresh off of taking the hugest risk of my life. I had sold everything I owned, grabbed my dog and flew 5500 miles (8850 km for you Europeans) to my new home away from everything in California I had known and loved. So naturally in early 2020, I was immersing myself in my new country, learning the language and exploring the cities and countrysides and, also, missing my family and friends, feeling lonely and alienated, dealing with a scary roommate situation, drowning in credit card debt and constantly wondering if I’d made a very horrible mistake. Right when I was finally beginning to make friends and find my place, lockdown slammed us all inside for the long-haul.

Luckily, I was able to find solace in a chat group that I stumbled upon very accidentally, full of kind, open-minded and passionate women trying to earn a living on the internet. We spent long hours comparing notes and data, determining together whether or not one social media site is worth joining or not and attempting to solve the mysteries of the ever-mysterious subscription site we all share. While this all might sound very studious and scientific, as time went on, I’d also speculate we’ve spent upwards of 50% of this time talking about our personal lives including silly situations that the pando had brought on, issues within personal relationships, memes and tiktoks we like, trash TV and so on. In other words, we were colleagues turned into friends, something that is not easy to accomplish when your job is strictly on the internet as many non-OnlyFans folk also learned while working from home. I don’t know how I would have survived the pandemic without the validation and comfort these kind souls provided in my life.

To have these incredible muses materialise into my reality in such a magical setting and learn that they are, indeed, exactly like they are on the internet (maybe better?) is so healing, powerful and fucking fun!! Like taking photos of the moon, photos, words and videos don’t even do it justice but I’m going to try to illustrate the sentiments and feelings nonetheless. You can see my best efforts on the websites listed beloooow.

Anyhow, we’ve got several weeks left to go and today we’re going on a BOAT. If you know me, you know I go wild for boats.

So, is it real life??? I don’t know but if not, I really hope I don’t wake up.
